The #1 most intriquing student on campus, Brianna Lanoye!

Scottish, Irish, British, Cockney, standard English, Brooklyn and southerner. Seven accents came out during a 10-minute interview with Brianna Lanoye – and I don’t doubt that she has more up her sleeve. So, as you can imagine, conducting an interview with Brianna, or, as she is more commonly known, Bri, was, well, intriguing.

Within seconds of meeting Lanoye, you are drawn to her bubbly personality. She welcomes you into her life – no matter who you are – and she takes you for a ride you are sure not to forget. The passion Lanoye puts into everything she does and the genuine consideration she has for every person in her life is very evident. It’s not everyday that you discover a person who can make you laugh and teach you a valuable life lesson all in one sitting. An undeniable force with an inexorable energy, she tops our “20 Most” list this year.

As a theater performance and English double-major, with a philosophy minor, Lanoye has a lot on her plate. While schoolwork keeps her busy, her involvement in many clubs on campus accounts for the rest of her time. She’s a member of the NU Players, treasurer for Player’s Present, vice president for the Resident Hall Association, an honors program member, an LCA in O’Shea, and an NUB student representative. She has also been inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma, Sigma Alpha Sigma, and the President’s Honor Society.

While all of this makes us wonder when Lanoye has time to sleep, what really makes her intriguing are the goals and aspirations she has outside the grounds of Niagara University.
Lanoye has already had the chance to travel to Panama on a trip with NU’s Campus Ministry and she backpacked through Guatemala during spring break.

“I really enjoy Central American countries,” Lanoye says. “The ability to learn to understand is a great thing, and I really want to further my Spanish communication skills.”

Lanoye will spend part of this upcoming summer studying abroad in London and will get the opportunity to travel to many of the countries in Europe while there. After graduation, the years that follow are not definite, but Lanoye sees herself doing service work first and foremost. She wants to understand other cultures and give back as much as she can. After she gets that experience, she wants to return and try her hand in theater for a while. Theater has always been her passion, and she wants to use her talent to present real problems in a creative way. Lanoye wants her involvement in theater to be something that creates a change in the world.

“I think what makes me intriguing is that I think that anything is possible,” Lanoye says. “I have a lot of dreams to accomplish and they aren’t just dreams to better me, but to better other people.”
Lanoye is a true inspiration and deeply believes in the work that she plans to do. It is obvious with the work that she has accomplished thus far that she is on the path to greatness. It is not everyday that one can come across a person as authentic as Brianna Lanoye.

    “I don’t give up – I am definitely a fighter,” she says.
