Niagara University is pleased to announce that Dr. Bonnie Rose, the university's executive vice president and vice president of academic affairs, was honored by the YWCA of Niagara at the organization's annual Tribute to Women event, which was held on Tuesday, Sept. 28.
Dr. Rose received the YWCA's 2010 Niagara Award in the Management category. The award is meant to recognize an individual whose actions have inspired opportunities in Niagara County for women's growth, leadership and empowerment.
On behalf of Niagara University, I would like to congratulate Dr. Rose for receiving this well-deserved honor, said the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., president of Niagara University.  Dr. Rose is an outstanding educator and administrator, and one of the most effective leaders in all of Western New York.  Her many talents are certainly befitting of this award.
The Niagara Awards began in 1997 by the YWCA of Niagara board of directors as a biennial event to recognize the achievements of Niagara County women.  In 2004, the event was recreated as an annual fundraising dinner recognizing women from all parts of the county and adding seven individual award categories.
Dr. Rose became Niagara University's vice president for academic affairs in 2002, and assumed the additional responsibility of serving as executive vice president in the fall of 2004.  Prior to joining Niagara, she served as the academic vice president of Niagara College of Applied Arts and Technology in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
An experienced educator, Dr. Rose has served as a course director and part-time faculty member at York University, Toronto, and at Carleton University and Algonquin College in Ottawa. She also served as a cooperative expert-in-residence at Innes College at the University of Toronto, and as a course developer and teacher for the Canadian Credit Union Institute. During her career, she has provided many conference presentations and has published several articles in non-refereed journals.
