Passionate "Twilight" fans have a lot to look forward to this coming summer with the release of "Eclipse" on June 30 in theaters and an exciting new novella from the beloved writer of the series. "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella" will be released on June 5 and "Twilight" enthusiasts are sure to flock to Meyer's site to download the short story for free at www.breetanner.com.

Meyer has decided to give back to her fans for their constant support saying, "You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift" on her site. A physical book will still be on the shelves for "Twilight" fans that wish to add it to its collection. One dollar of each book purchased in the U.S. from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in need.

The author expressed her intentions for the sales of the physical copy of the novella saying "one other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. We're going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this."

"The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella," a 192-page story, is an offshoot of the third novel in Meyer's best-selling teen vampire "Twilight" saga, "Eclipse." The new novella is told in the voice of the teenage Bree, a "newborn vampire" whom we meet on page 569 in "Eclipse." (Spoiler alert!) Ten pages later, she's dead. Bree is part of an army of newborn vampires created by Cullen family nemesis Victoria. Thirsty for revenge after the Cullens kill her vampire lover James, Victoria plans to use her army to kill the Cullens and Bella.

" ˜The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' is pretty much contained in the last week of the newborns' existence before the big fight (between the Cullens and the vampire army) in the meadow in ˜Eclipse,'" Meyer says. "It's the last week before Bree dies."

Meyer has also revealed she was not intending on releasing "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner."

"I began this story a long time ago-before ˜Twilight' was even released. Back then I was just editing ˜Eclipse,' and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn."
Enthusiastic fans of Meyer's series will unquestionably run to bookstores and the Internet to read this new "Twilight" title.
