Kiernan Korner Nov. 19, 2009
In their final year, "The Brew Crew", captained by Matthew "Captain Admiral" Palmer, clenched their third and final championship victory solidifying their dominance and leaving a legacy for teams to follow.
On a beautiful Monday night in October four teams would take the field in an effort to become the 2009 Flag Football Champions. The first semi-final game would pin the "Office Linebackers" against "Child Please." In a game that would come down to the final minutes with the "OLB's" walking away with a 27-20 victory and a guaranteed shot at the championship.
The second semi-final game would be a rematch of last year's championship as "Brew Crew" took on "Syracuse." The results would be similar as "Brew Crew" routed their opponent 34-8.
The stage was set as the #1 and #2 seeded teams stepped onto the gridiron for the year's final showdown. What many thought would be a well fought game turned out to be a lop-sided victory as the "Brew Crew" jumped out to a 14-6 lead at half-time. Led by Jared Rice's 2 touchdowns and an interception. "Brew Crew" would put the nail in the coffin, scoring 14 and giving up 0 in the second half.
"Brew Crew" would end their reign of intramural Flag Football dominance with a 28-6 victory over the "Office Linebackers", solidifying their place in Niagara University history as only the second team in Flag Football history to three-peat.
