Hello Students, Faculty, and Staff! We hope you had a great and enjoyable summer away from school. It's that time of year again and the Kiernan Center has some great programs scheduled for this upcoming semester. Please stop by to sign up for fitness rewards or get your team signed up for intramural sports. We look forward to seeing all of you.

From the desk of the Personal Trainer

Welcome back students. Summer is over and it's time to get in shape or continue working out. This Year we have multiple programs that will keep you motivated and pushing yourself to get better at working out.

Fitness Rewards- This semester we decided to up the prizes from last year's IPod Nano. This year we thought we would go a little bigger and give everyone the chance to win an IPod Touch. Fitness Rewards can be the easiest program to get involved in at the Kiernan Center. All you need to do is bring in the fitness rewards card, have it initialed 24 times and then you will be entered for your chance to win the IPod Touch. Besides being entered to win an IPod, just for completing one fitness reward card you receive a Kiernan Center water bottle. It's the perfect item to bring with you to the gym.

Personal Training- Niagara's personal training service will help you get the results that you want. If you have been working out for a long time and you're not seeing the improvements that you want, give the personal trainer a chance to look at your routine and update it so that you will see the results that you want. This program is offered to all users of the Kiernan Center. Undergraduate students pay $10 for 3 sessions and everyone else pays $25 for 3 sessions. This is the best deal you can find in Western New York.

Aerobics- Kiernan Center will be offering a variety of aerobic programs this semester. We still have all the classes from last year with the addition of a few new ones. The new classes for this year include: "Ramping" This class is an intense lower body workout that will help tighten and tone your legs. "Step Aerobics" We are bringing this class back, a high intensity lower body class that will bring a new dimension to aerobics with the addition of step boxes. "Zumba" combines hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a fun aerobic workout. Zumba is energizing and beneficial to the body. More classes will be coming for later this year.

Wanted Aerobics Instructors- Do you have experience with teaching aerobics and are looking for some extra cash? If so contact James Polito @ x7378.

OFFICIALS WANTED

The Kiernan Center is looking for motivated individuals that are interested in making some extra money to help them through the semester. Each sport that we offer throughout the intramural season requires officials to oversee and monitor each event. Officials are paid per game and you can earn up to $10 per game that you officiate. If you are interested in becoming an intramural official please come to one of the following meetings:
Outdoor Soccer - Thursday, September 10tth
Flag Football - Thursday, September 17th
Roller Hockey - Thursday, September 24th
Basketball- Thursday, October 8th
Dodgeball - Thursday, October 29th
Being an intramural official is a fun and exciting way to make money, meet new people, and get involved on campus. If you don't know much about the sports, don't worry each official is trained by the intramural staff here at NU.

Graduate Intermurals

ATTENTION ALL GRADUATE STUDENTS! We will again be offering two intramural tournaments per semester offered exclusively to graduate students and faculty within each graduate program. The way it works is each graduate program (Education, Criminal Justice, MBA, and Interdisciplinary Studies) will put together a roster of students and faculty and they will compete with the other graduate programs. This semester we will be offering an outdoor soccer tournament and a co-ed volleyball tournament. If you are interested in signing up please contact your graduate department for information on how to sign up.

If you have any questions or comments regarding intramurals please contact Derek Puff at 286-8055 or email at dpuff@niagara.edu
