Do you feel a need to get some culture in your life and help stimulate the Buffalo area at the same time? Going to the theater can do both.
This Saturday, Oct. 30, the Campus Programming Board will provide students with a chance to see the hit Broadway musical “Mary Poppins” at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. The bus leaves from Gallagher at 1 p.m. Tickets purchased through CBP are $20 as opposed to $25, which is what Shea’s price is for students.
The show’s final performance in Buffalo will be Oct. 31, so students won’t have another chance to see it.
The show is put on by a travelling production company, yet there are local actors and actresses hired in each city for the performance. Therefore, this will be an opportunity to see some Buffalo locals performing in a Broadway musical.
Lisa Grisanti is the director of marketing and public relations for Shea’s and has been with the company for 10 years.
“The musical combines the best elements of the P.L. Travers short stories and the popular 1964 Disney film,” said Grisanti. “There are also some new songs and musical numbers created specifically for the stage musical.”
This means the audience will be able to enjoy the story they already know, but with a new twist.
